From a news article: “Jamie Leigh Jones, 22, was gang raped by her co-workers two years ago at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, a heavily guarded area in central Baghdad, where US officials live and work, ABC reported. According to Jones, she was drugged, imprisoned in a shipping container without food or water for at least 24 hours, and injured both physically and emotionally. Jones said her captors warned her not to leave Iraq for medical treatment.” More information is available from this Associated Press article.
My View
Obviously none of us in the public know the actual facts about this case, but under the current political circumstances, it is not hard to imagine that there could be a possibility of a cover-up by someone, including KBR. We must remember that KBR is actually Halliburton/KBR. And who does Halliburton have in their pocket in very high place’s; Vice-President Dick Chaney. Chaney was the Chairman and CEO of Halliburton prior to becoming Vice-President of the United States. It is this fact that Halliburton got the 150 billion dollar contract in Iraq without having to bid on the job. Cheney and his friends have flaunted this abuse of power in our faces because they know we can do nothing about it. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that if this rape is true, Halliburton has nothing to worry about. If Halliburton was smart they would let the investigation go forward quickly so they can be “forgiven” by the Bush/Cheney administration before they’re out of office.
Will the American people ever wake up and see that we are rapidly becoming a facist nation? Is there any hope that people like Chaney and Bush and Carl Rove will be exposed and punished for destroying democracy in the United States? God helps those who help themselves. Wake up America, before all of us who believe in liberty wind up in concentration camps.
