Karl Rove Writing A New Book

December 23, 2007

The Facts

CNN announced yesterday that Karl Rove, George Bush’s favorite advisor and hatchet man, has written (or will be writing) a new book. They reported that Rowe signed a $1.5 million deal, I assume from the selected publisher. Karl Rove was quoted as saying the book “will set the record straight”.

My View

“Set the record straight”; this is what caught my ear and made me decide to post this piece. A “record” is supposed to be the absolute truth substantiated with indisputable facts, not what a person wants the truth to be. If you are familiar with my sites, you will know that my slogan is “a lie is a lie, and the truth is the truth”, and that I am possessed with that fact. No matter what kind of spin, politically correctness, biases, or twist you put on something, the truth is still the truth.

When Rove’s book is published, millions of people will buy it. Nothing wrong with that; but the problem is that at first they will read things that they want to be the truth and start believing the book to be fact, then they will start quoting the book as “fact”, then it becomes the “truth”. All this simply because some “official” person wrote it down in words. It will never occur to people that Rove is never going to write down anything that is not complementary and protective to himself and his party. That would be stupid. I rather doubt he is going to substantiate anything with undisputed evidence. The majority of the book will most likely be based upon “I am saying this so that is fact enough”. In other words, “this is what I want history to be”.

One must remember that only the victors write history; the losers never get to record their facts. Take a look at what so-called “historical facts” have been recorded about our political leaders for the past twenty-five years or so. In most cases many of these facts do not support the truth. They are mostly just a means to a desired end. If you study ancient history, you will find many cases where Egyptians and other great societies physically destroyed records, monuments, and likenesses of people simply because they were unhappy with them or had defeated them. They wanted to erase them from the earth as if they never existed. But this action did not change the facts. And neither will anybody’s so-called “written record” change the real facts.
