The Facts
The next President will be faced with one of the worse situations that any President has ever been faced with; our federal budget deficient and our national debt. Even if the war in Iraq and all of our other domestic problems went away, the next president would have a full plate to deal with.
My View
Who would want this job? Only an egotistical maniac would want to take on this problem. In large part, we can thank our current President; the one so many are so proud of. Try this on for size. Remember the President that everyone likes to degrade; the one whose legacy is that he had sex with an intern in the Oval Office? Well, when he went into office the national debt was about $4.2 trillion. When he left office, the debt was about $5.8 trillion and leveling off. Under the Bush administration the debt has climbed from about $5.8 trillion to about $9.8 trillion and will climb another $1.5 trillion as a result of his action after he leaves office. Boy, ain’t we glad he didn’t have sex with an intern? What a shame that would have been, especially in light of all the wonderful things he’s done for our country.
