Will John McCain Increase Social Security Payroll Tax?

August 25th, 2008 · No Comments · 2008 Presidential Campaign, Campaigns & Elections, Politics & Politicans, Republicans, Taxes

August 25, 2008

The Facts

The Washington Post published an editorial today they call “Social Security on Ice“. The content of the article addresses how both Presidential candidates seem to be conveniently ignoring the problems associated with Social Security relative to its liquidity future. Two past statements by McCain is referenced relative to tax increases. In February of this year McCain said that under no circumstances would he increase taxes. But as you read that article you find he is referring to “lower interest rates, lower tax rates, and decreasing corporate tax rates”, showing his support of the Bush tax cuts. Then on July 28 of this year McCain backed off his “no new tax” pledge when he said raising Social Security payroll tax was “on the table”.

My View

McCain, Bush, and the neo-conservatives continue to prove over & over they think the middle and lower class working people are the ones who are supposed to financially support the country, and businesses should get a free ride. And what amazes me more & more is how many of those middle and lower class working people continue to not only support them but become very radical in their defense of them. That can only be accounted for with the extremely aggressive tactics the neo-conservatives have used to paint the Democratic Party as an evil entity. Since the early to mid 1990’s, the former has been far more aggressive & successful than the Democrats in their efforts, what with their constant 24-hour a day “attack” programs; which only proves that people believe that the “first news reported” is “truth” regardless of the facts.

The extremely liberal Democrats are just as good at spewing “truths”. The only difference is theirs is usually in response to an attack (defensive), rather than as an offensive tactic, therefore their “news” can not be believed.

On another web site I once wrote that it was hard to understand how citizens stood by and did nothing as their society failed as a result of corrupt government. I reckoned the only answer was most of those citizens had been successfully “sold” into believing certain elements of the government was taking care of them. But once they realized that wasn’t true, it was too late; the society was no more.

The cost to taxpayers is the same.
The only question is who will pay for it and when!
