"Efficient market theory dominated economic thinking from the days of Ronald Reagan to the collapse of 2008. It was the rationale for deregulation, the cause of a massive transfer of wealth and income from the middle class to a tiny number of the very rich. Now it is dead and gone but Republican politicians won’t let go, and many in the media show no understanding of the issue."

Videos of the Day – Interesting Stuff

August 30, 2009

Four videos of great interest surfaced this week on CNBC, so I’ve decided to just post them for your enjoyment.

The Deficit Effect

In this video, I find it interesting that no one seems to be pointing to the past President, who doubled our debt by running a deficit. They seem to want to blame it all on the current administration.

Wall Street & Reform

This is very interesting. Their question is “have we lost the will to reform Wall Street”. I question if we ever had the will. “We”, of course, are not we the people — it’s we the leaders, who are controlled by Wall Street.

The Yankee Has Struck Oil

Ex-CEO of Shell Oil Company US, John Hofmeister, has some interesting things to say, as always since he decided to retire from Shell.

Small Wonders Hardware Store Beats Odds

Now this one is very, very interesting. A small independent hardware store owner is not only surviving within eye site of the big chain stores, but growing. The message he has to offer won’t be received very well by the ranks of those who promote big business.
