"Efficient market theory dominated economic thinking from the days of Ronald Reagan to the collapse of 2008. It was the rationale for deregulation, the cause of a massive transfer of wealth and income from the middle class to a tiny number of the very rich. Now it is dead and gone but Republican politicians won’t let go, and many in the media show no understanding of the issue."

A Note From The Old Man

UPDATE: February 13, 2010

As might be expected, the budget break-down is taking more time than expected. Barring any unforeseen events, it should be done by Tuesday, February 16.

February 9, 2010

Sorry for no post for the past few days. I am in the process of breaking down the 2011 Federal Budget, and, as you might expect, it has consumed most of my time for the past 5 days. It will most likely take 2-3 more days to complete. Once completed, it will be uploaded and a post published with links to it. The budget will be broken down into each Agency and Bureau name, later to include account names with accompanying amounts. Others are also doing this, but I felt it was necessary for CPS News.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Wow, this is great work you’re doing. I hope it doesn’t drive you crazy. It will be a great resource for us.

Thanks CS. I think I’m already crazy for even tackling it. Man, is it a LOT of work, but I feel it’s worth it. I’ve wanted to be personally familiar with the details of the budget for years, so now I have an excuse to do it. I’ll say one thing — if you go through it with a fine-tooth comb, you can see where a lot of waste is and also the places Congressional members “hide” their pork and goodies. Of course, they try to camouflage it with fancy little names, but you can usually see through it. Thanks for visiting.
