Ripoff? Dude, you're getting used, just like Fox News and the Agriculture Secretary got used by Breitbart in the Shirley Sherrod scandal.

The scandal here is not about dead soldiers and greedy Wall STreet firms; that's just how they packaged it, so you'd take the bait. And you did.

The product in question is only about 5% soldier related. It's an insurance product that's been around for 20 years, with for example 0 (that's zero) complaints in the State of Connecticut. It's sold to everyone, and with good reason: do you really want a cashier's check showing up when you're burying your loved one, who was also the reason you got that check, and then have a discussion about who gets how much, and where to invest it?

No. Which is why it makes sense to provide a safe means of deferral. Those policies all state clearly you can have all the money whenever you want. You just don't have to rush. And as far as "taking money away" from you; let me ask you, how much does your bank pay on your checking account? And are you calling them evil?

But don't trust my comment: go read the much longer take on this little scandal: and don't be a party to it!

Thanks CS. I apologize for the delay in your comment being posting. For the first time ever Akismet dumped your comment into the span tray. I can't see a reason why, as I've looked back and nothing has changed from your previous comments. Anyway, I told Akismet it wasn't span and "don't do that anymore". Your comments are supposed to be posted automatically.

Well said, Old Man. They get away with so much because they are so critical to our daily lives and economic engine. So, we pay at the pump, we pay when we buy other products, and we pay again when we pay our taxes.

Business as usual. No ethics and no accountability. And they wonder why people like me—and many others—plan to vote for whoever is <em>not</em> the incumbent?
