Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens, Republican, said his goodbye’s to members of the Senate the other day. In doing so, he was given lots of praise by many Congressional members, and standing ovations.

Tears were even noticed in many members eyes, including some Democrats. The entire episode lasted three hours.
My View
Where do I start? If this man, convicted of crimes committed in the course of conducting national business, is considered to be a hero by other members of Congress, then you have to ask yourself by what standards do our elected officials judge people. With Barak Obama winning the presidency by a huge electoral margin and the Democratic controlled Congress increasing their power by several more seats, a message was sent to the Republican Party they must not ignore; American voters are very unhappy with the way they have been governing for the past 8 years in the White House and, up until two years ago, in Congress for 10 years. US House Representative John Mica is up for reelection next week. Mica is a Republican and has been in the House since 1993. He ran unopposed in 2004, but Democrat Faye Armitage, a former economics professor, is running against him this year. Nancy Boyda just may be the perfect poster child for the way campaigns should be run. Boyda is a US House Representative from Kansas and is running for reelection this year after serving her first 2-year term in office. What’s so great about this run? Boyda is campaigning without advertising which political party she belongs to. When someone ask which party she belongs to, she just puts her arms around them; a jester which says it doesn’t matter which party I am associated with as long as I am campaigning on what you want me to do.
In response to a question yesterday, Geraldine Ferraro said that Barack Obama would not be where he is today in the Democratic nomination if he were white or a woman. Now she is being crucified for her comments. But she also added that she would not have been picked as the Vice-Presidential nominee in 1984 if she were a man.
